NWM bolsters Desk Strategy with new hires

NatWest Markets announced today that it has made three new desk strategist appointments in London, effective immediately, as it expands its trading desk strategy capability for rates, FX and emerging market products.

Olgay Buyukkayali has been hired as Head of Emerging Markets Strategy & Macro Analysis. He reports into Jim McCormick, Global Head of Desk Strategy. He has extensive emerging markets experience, most recently at Goldman Sachs, where he ran the EM Desk Strategy team in London.

Giovanni Zanni has joined as Chief Euro Area Economist, reporting into Ross Walker, Co-Head of Global Economics. Giovanni was previously at Credit Suisse for 19 years, most recently as Deputy Head of Euro Area Economics.

Theo Chapsalis has been appointed Head of UK Rates Strategy, reporting into Giles Gale, Head of European Rates Strategy. Theo was at HSBC for over eight years covering UK rates and global inflation strategy.

Jim McCormick said: “These new hires bring a wealth of industry experience that will strengthen and deepen our strategy offering in our core European rates products. It also allows us to expand our emerging markets offering.”

Mansoor Mohi-uddin has taken up the new role of Senior Policy Adviser. Based in Singapore, Mansoor will provide real-money investors with thematic, long-term investment ideas. He was previously Head of FX Strategy.

Paul Robson becomes Head of G10 FX Strategy, EMEA, while Brian Daingerfield becomes Head of G10 FX Strategy, US. 

At the same time, Michelle Girard, US Chief Economist, and Ross Walker, Head of UK & European Economics, are named as Co-Heads of Global Economics. They will each continue their respective focus on the US and UK economies as well as develop a more global framework for NatWest Markets economic analysis.
